re: Are fish wet when they're underwater? Posted by madmaxvol on 8/22/17 at am to NeddieBumpo Who thing for sure Underwater the fish don't stink. According to the scientists, the fish are covered by a kind of single layer that keeps them dry. That's why they do not get wet. When you take the fish out of the water it is when it is considered wet, when it is already out and touches the air it.

While underwater the water molecules glide and some stick to your body but they do not break off of your body until they are subjected to air which gives you the "wet" sensation. So in other words if I am above water and spill some water on my arm then I am wet because it is interacting with the oxygen in the air. Is a fish in water wet? Follow. Upvote Fish scales are hydrophobic so no they’re not wet in water. August 24th, Fish are not wet until you take them out of water and then they are.
