Which brings me to the title: “ The Lord’s Prayer and 12 Step Spirituality. ” The men in this group are a diverse group in education, professions, and religious faith. Some are practicing Catholics, some are fallen-away Catholics, and some don’t have a specified religious faith. But all believe in God. The language is rough in meetings. The Society of the Holy Cross (SSC) was founded in London in by a small group of Anglo-Catholic priests led by Father Charles Lowder. At a time when the Catholic Revival in the Church of England was threatened by persecution and misunderstanding, these priests came together for support, mutual prayer and encouragement.

The movement, founded by Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin in , is committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, prayer, and hospitality for the homeless, exiled, hungry, and forsaken.
